Local Bands battling to fight poverty
Battle of the Bands invites local Austin bands with unique styles to showcase their talents and skills while raising awareness about our international summer development project, The Quechua Rainforest Project. As our biggest venture of the spring semester, we raise money through the raffle* and hunger dinner** hosted in conjunction with the Battle of the Bands event. Check out what you'll be supporting in the video below, highlighting Quechua life in Chipaotoa, Peru.
In 2009, in its first year of existence, Nourish International Austin Chapter's Battle of the Bands raised more than $2,000 to benefit impoverished women in Guatemala. This year, we expect to make the event even bigger and better. 100% of the proceeds raised at Battle of the Bands will benefit the Chipaota tribe of Peru. We hope we can count on you for support.
Battle of the Bands:
This year, the event will feature 6 bands. Each band will perform for about 20 minutes. The winner, decided by a combination of the judge’s decisions and audience choice votes, will be awarded a cash prize.
